I’ve never personally read The Three Musketeers, but when Thomas picked out the name and explained why he thought it worked, I had to immediately agree. When we met this Porthos, he was hissing at another cat who was trying to eat the kibble we’d left out for potential strays in our neighbourhood, and whenever we’d spot him from then on, he’d always have a sort of dishevelled look about his long hair. Porthos is a fictional character from The Three Musketeers – he’s honest, gullible, enjoys wine, and apparently really likes to eat. Would absolutely be happy to switch if we ever figure out who his pet parents are and what their name for him is, but until then, we’ve called him Porthos.
